Fund our Future:
Invest in our Students!
Anti public education policies have laid the path for out of state corporations to make millions off our kids by taking money from our public institutions.
In fact, Florida is set to siphon $5 billion each year away from public schools to fund alternative school options.
For the past 25 years, leaders in Florida have created a multi-tiered system of education in the state: one tier for voucher and charter schools which receive public funding, and little to no accountability or oversight, and one tier for traditional public schools, whose funding gets funneled away into a charter and voucher system.
Meanwhile, public school educators are villainized, and parents and students are left wanting and needing more.
No matter the setting a student is educated in, families deserve a uniform set of basic standards, expectations and transparency.

What are we fighting for?
1. For stronger public schools that support every child, no matter their need
2. For the legislature to start investing $1000 more per student
3. To ensure increased transparency and accountability for systems that are funded with taxpayer dollars
4. To restore cuts to music, art, physical education, mental health, counselors, psychologists, school workers, and more
5. For local control so that districts have more flexibility in the allocations from the state
6. To protect academic freedom for Florida’s colleges and universities
7. To reduce the number of laws that negatively impact teacher compensation and union operations
8. For yearly increases in the minimum wage and per hour wage for education staff professionals pay
9. For sustainable increases in salary so that Florida ranks in the top 10 for teacher pay, ensuring annual increases are not offset by inflation or healthcare increases
It’s time for change.
The Fund our Future: Invest in our Students movement is the path to achieving a uniform, efficient, safe, secure, and high-quality public education system and is grounded in three principles:
Student success, with goals such as ensuring safe learning environments, providing needed services, reducing class sizes, and prioritizing real learning over rote learning and high-stakes testing.
Investment in our public education systems, in order to raise per-pupil spending to at least the national average, pay for initiatives mandated by the Legislature, and provide competitive funding for districts, colleges and universities and competitive salaries for our educators, professors and graduate assistants.
Retention and recruitment, so that school districts can attract and keep the qualified teachers and staff who are fundamental to student success and achievement.
Public funds, private control. Why the difference?
Accountability is key to supporting all students in the state. Every parent or guardian deserves to be fully informed and educated on where their public tax dollars go.
For all school options in Florida, taxpayer dollars that are meant to fund traditional public schools are diverted away from public schools to fund schools that are managed by for profit companies. Meaning our students in public schools are losing billions in resources each year to potentially fund for profit entities.
Additionally, there is a widespread unevenness in how accountability and transparency standards are applied across school systems, even though taxpayer dollars fund each of them.
